On Wednesday, September 20, 2023 the coast-to-coast 1 Million March 4 Children in Canada took place in Prince George. In addition to parents and guardians of students within School District 57, the event was also attended by leaders of differing faiths who agreed on parental rights and a shared concern for the displacement of academics within the public government schools.
The event showed public support for parents’ rights to educate their own children on sexual issues and be involved in the educational process. And the event also brought attention to the rights of children to be educated in academics and their right to not be educated in sexuality.
Concern was expressed that current curriculum exposes children to a plethora of sexual practices and encourages students to make selections while still a minor.
One attendee said, “I am worried about the outcome. There is so much pressure on kids, how can it not cause early-onset sexuality?”
One sign addressed a concern around academics: “Teach Biology Not Ideology”. As academics become displaced, parental access is threatened as well. New policies refuse to affirm the natural gender on a child’s birth certificate and refuse to disclose to parents pseudo-identities that their child might secretly be living under while at school.
One elderly lady in a wheelchair said, “It was beautiful to see all of the religious leaders and all of the Nations peaceful and firm in the protection of children and the rights and responsibilities of parents.” Because she could not join the march itself, she stayed and observed more than 350 people walking past her in the march.
