Lively chatter of children has filled the Croatian Cultural Centre on regular calendar school days now into the second educational year. President of Wallace Educational Consulting, Lisa Wallace has provided the community of Prince George a unique option to traditional homeschooling through Wallace Tutoring. Having a friendly classroom environment in which to excel, gives parents of homeschoolers another option to meet their family’s schedules and academic goals. But this also provides the structure necessary to offer solutions for parents considering homeschooling as it overcomes several issues that parents consider when juggling work and learning schedules.
The classroom setting gives social interaction as well as a variety in course offerings and a mix of instructors. “Wallace Tutoring aids parents in growing children and youth into critical thinkers with intellectual character development, integrity, honour, a sense of fulfillment from their quality of workmanship, and to become engaged learners for life. The educational programming is designed to provide hands-on learning to gain more real life skills, and work towards discovering their worth, their giftings, and their purpose and mission in life,” says Wallace.
In addition to an inspiring and inviting classroom environment for K through 12, Wallace Tutoring has added bus service to address transportation needs. More than twenty students have benefited from the bus service since it started to connect areas from Beaverly and College Heights, to the Hart and downtown, by bringing students to the Pineview location for their day. The bus has been a game changer for the greater homeschool community as well as it gets several groups of students to various planned field trips and excursions.
Wallace Tutoring is providing unrivaled support for students with IEPs (Individual Education Plans) as well as personalized and adaptive curriculums that welcome parent involvement as well as planning. “Lots of kids with IEPs and the regular school model – the one size fits all approach – just is not working,” says Wallace.
Wallace Educational Consulting is in the application process for Independent School status, and a dedicated group of people are supporting that vision by founding the PG FACTSociety to support the operation of a quality education provider serving greater Prince George.
Wallace explains that all students are welcome and that the learning centre is a unique outreach.
Art Director Norisa Anderson says, “We are developing a fun and engaging line of Biblical teaching aides tailored for hands-on learning of all ages. Students show an eagerness to bring their projects home to share with their family the meaning of that day’s lesson. This outreach is a wonderful way to reach a new demographic. Our intent is to help and to heal families with sound wisdom right from the source of wisdom. The principles of The Fruits of the Spirit; The Beatitudes; and the way of true kindness as taught by Jesus are a healing salve to families and our extended communities.”
When asked why the need for an outreach school, Anderson said, “It’s about being the salt of the earth. If a mere five per cent of salt is disbursed throughout a society, it naturally preserves against deterioration and decay.”
